In partnership with Kayd Somali Week, Almas Art Foundation hosted a five-day public screening series of director Ahmed Farah’s acclaimed film Ayaanle at London’s Courthouse Hotel Cinema, with additional screenings held nationwide. The event ran from 23–27 October, celebrating one of the most talked-about films from the Somali diaspora.
Ayaanle follows a spirited 21-year-old aspiring actor in Nairobi who dreams of reaching Hollywood despite the weight of social expectations and economic hardship. His ambition and optimism are tested when a series of unforeseen events transform him into the most wanted man in the city. Blending humour, heart, and political commentary, Farah’s film captures the tension between aspiration and reality, and the resilience of those who dare to dream beyond circumstance.

AYAANLE is a 21 year old, young man living in Nairobi who aspires to become an actor and reach Hollywood. Despite his conservative upbringing and coming from an impoverished background, he remains optimistic about making it in the film industry and hopes to emulate his hero Denzel Washington.His life is turned upside down after a series of unlikely events that led him to becoming the most wanted man.
