Infinite Trolling | Baloji
Almas Art Foundation, in collaboration with Defise Foundation, proudly presented AUGURE: Infinite Trolling, an immersive video installation by Congolese-Belgian artist Baloji, for their debut participation in 1-54 London 2024. The work explores the psychology of infinite scrolling — the relentless mechanism of digital consumption that blurs emotion, meaning, and empathy in an age of algorithmic overload.
Through a series of fragmented yet interconnected vignettes, Baloji constructs a visual meditation on desensitization and the fractured experience of the contemporary self. The installation unfolds as an “exercise in empathy,” granting equal weight to each narrative perspective and inviting viewers to confront how digital saturation reshapes human perception.
This presentation marked the second collaboration between Almas Art Foundation and Defise Foundation, following the screening of Baloji’s acclaimed feature film AUGURE (OMEN) — winner of the New Vision Award at Cannes and Belgium’s Oscar submission for 2024. Together, the two foundations continue to champion contemporary artistic practices from Africa and its diaspora, fostering dialogue through film, visual art, and critical exchange.
